Stage 4: Éibar - Güeñes

I was able to watch the last 10k of today's stage. When I started watching, 3 riders were off the front (Colombia - Abasini, Silence-Lotto - Van Den Broeck, Garmin - Vandevelde), with Astana setting tempo for the main field. With about 1.6-2k to go, the breakaway started to prepare for the finish. In the final stretch, Abasini started the sprint from the front of the 3 man group and easily motored in for the win (by about 2-4 bike lengths), with Van Den Broeck edging out Vandevelde for second.

Ben Swift (Katusha) took the field sprint (4th), with Bjorn Shroeder (Milram, 7th), Christian Knees (Milram, 8th), and others immediately following. Christian Knees is currently 12th in the GC (+1.11). Alberto Contador (Astana) is still the GC leader.

Dominik finished right in the main field. Hopefully today's stage was easier than yesterday's stage on Dom. As easy as climbing 2,990 meters can be.
