Wednesday is stage 11 from Vilanova i la Geltrú to Vallnord. It is 208 kilometers with 4460 meters of ascending. Stage 11 contains two categorized climbs with the second being a mountaintop finish.

Another hard day in the mountains

Monday was a rest day, and Tuesday the peloton will cover the 176 kilometers from Tarragona to Vilanova i la Geltrú. There will be 2140 meters of ascending, from riding over uncategorized hills and one categorized climb:
Km 140 - Alto del Rat Penat - 4,4 km at 10,8% - Category 1
There will be a fight for King of the Mountains points and hopes of a win from the break.

Stage 8: Villena - Xorret del Catí 190km
Restructiong of GC after first Mountain stage.
David Moncoutié (Fra, Cofidis) wins solo, after riding away from breakaway companions on last climb's steep section. Moncoutié dedicated his win to Laurent Fignon and to the staff member of Team Sky who died yesterday. Igor Anton (Spa,Euskaltel-Euskadi) now leads the GC with second place rider Joaquin Rodriguez (Spa, Team Katusha) having same time, and third place is Vincenzo Nibali (Ita, Liquigas-Doimo) two seconds down.
Sunday's stage 9 is 187 kilometers, ascends 4070 meters, and has seven categorized climbs:
Km 60 - Coll de Rates - 6,8 km at 5,15% - Category 2
Km 97,8 - Alto de Guadalest - 5,3 km at 7,17% - Category 2
Km 106,5 - Alto de Confrides - 11,8 km at 3,47% - Category 3
Km 124,8 - Alto de Tudons - 7,2 km at 5,14% - Category 2
Km 147,5 - Puerto de Torremanzanas - 8,3 km at 5,42% - Category 2

Stage 7: Murcia - Orihuela 187.1km
Dominink rides in break for second time, and Robert Förster (Ger, Team Milram) gets Top 10 for forth time in this Vuelta.
Alessandro Petacchi (Ita) Lampre-Farnese Vini wins the stage. Robert Förster (Ger, Team Milram)gets seventh, Philippe Gilbert (Bel) Omega Pharma-Lotto still lead the GC (5 days now). Dominik rode in the break with 3 other riders, from early in the race and at one point the gap was up to 10:27. On the only categorized climb for the day, Puerto de Hondón de los Frailes, Dominik punctured and had to work his way back to the 3 other riders. As the break was descending after the climb, the gap was down to 4:00 (about 23 km to go). The break was caught five kilometers before the finish. Dominik is racing this Vuelta with the same gusto he did last year, and last year on stage 15 he got third place. It's only a matter of time before someone on Team Milram wins a stage (hopefully Dom :-)) or gets on the podium. They are definitely showing they want it bad.
Saturday's mountainous stage 8, is 189 kilometers long, and has 3450 m of ascending. There are 5 catagorized climbs and a mountain top finnish:
Km 18 - Puerto de Onil - 6,4 km at 5% - Category 3
Km 89,5 - Puerto de Tudons - 6,9 km at 4,78% - Category 2
Km 115,2 - Puerto de Torremanzanas - 8,3 km at 5,3% - Category 2
Km 141,7 - Puerto de la Carrasqueta - 11,0 km at 4,77% - Category 2
Km 186,8 - Alto Xorret del Catí 3,8 km at 11,56% (max 22%) - Category 1
It will be another exciting and grueling day of racing with many changes to the GC. It took a lot of guts (or as the Finns say, sisu), for Dominik to go in the break today, knowing the first mountainous stage is the day after. That finishing climb tomorrow will dig deep into Dom's legs after todays effort. Good luck to Dom and Team Milram.

Stage 6: Caravaca de Cruz - Murcia 151km
Markus Eichler (Ger,Team Milram) rides in the days break and Paul Voss (Ger, Team Milram) gets 13th.
Thor Hushovd (Nor, Cervélo Test Team) made it over Alto de la Cresta del Gallo (catagory 2) to win the the bunch sprint (71 riders). Philippe Gilbert (Bel, Omega Pharma-Lotto) took 6th and remains in the GC lead (four days now).
Stage 7 on Friday covers 170 km from Murcia to Orihuela and features one catagory 3 climb, the Puerto de Hondón de los Frailes (8.8 km at 4.83%). Another stage for the sprinters.

Stage 5: Guadix - Lorca 198.8km
Tyler Farrar (USA, Garmin-Transitions) wins stage 5. Robert Förster (Ger, Team Milram) get's 7th, and Dominik finished with main field. Philippe Gilbert (Bel, Omega Pharma-Lotto) keeps GC lead another day. If you watched the race today, you got to see Dominik a few times. Riding in the break during stage 4 got him some camera time today :-).
Stage 6 on thursday is 144 km and mostly flat with one catagory 2 climb (Alto de la Cresta del Gallo) at Km 131. Alto de la Cresta del Gallo is 5.1 km at 6.2%, and is 7 km at 4.36% according to the official info.
