Last time from Spain

So I'm almost there. And really this first grand Tour went really better than I expacted... almost perfekt.
The TT yesterday was definatly a good final success for myself. Today I hope there will be no more crashes (at least not for me) cause I don't what to fly home like a 'Wiener Schnitzel'... But if theres a Sprint I will probably try to get a good position (best behind Greipel) and maje another good placement.
Jep so far. I hope everyone enjoyed following me and my notes...
I will continue racing until October 17th (Giro del Lombardia).

Dom rides superb TT

Dom rode to 19th place in the time trail today. An amazing result at only 22 years old near the end of his first grand tour. While Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Caisse d'Epargne secured the GC.

Tomorrow Dom will complete his first grand tour...with much success for Team Milram...way to go Dominik!

Schwer, hard, dur, dura....

was it today... my fingers are still a bit handicaped (I'm typing real slow). Well it was a cold wet and windy stage today.
I tryed to be in the group in the beginning (first time in the vuelta I was the one starting to sprint at km 0...) but they didn't let me go and my legs also didnÄt feel so good (after this first attack) well and it took about till the middle of the cat 1 climb till some(very strong riders) went away. I found myself in a very Big group and we roled together with the rest in the front shortly. After that it was always quite fast and one really steep climp... but my legs were better and so I reached the finishline close to the peloton.
So tomorrow one more time 'in die Fresse hauen' (*punching in my mouth) how we call it when we suffer. And then I will go all out at the TT and then the roll out in Madrid. Unluckily we lost Gerald today and so we won't have to work for any more Sprints...

Stage 17: Ciudad Real - Talavera de la Reina 193.6km

Anthony Roux (FRA) Francaise des Jeux wins from a 5 man break, despite the hard efforts of the sprinters chasing teams. Team Milram was out in force (Along with Columbia-HTC, Liquigas) working to bring the break back. You could definitely see how hard the effort was in all the riders faces. It seemed like they were going to catch the break... the gap was closing rapidly in the closing kilometers:

8 km - 60+ sec
7 km - 43 sec
4 km - 29 sec
3 km -
2 km - 17 sec
1 km -

Just after 2 km to go you could see the break away riders coming out of a almost 180 degree corner, while the peloton was about to enter it.

It was a dramatic finale.

Friday will be a tough mountain stage. A 28 km time trial Saturday. And the final rolling to flat stage on Sunday stops in Madrid. Four more days of racing and Dom will have completed his first Grand Tour.

September 15, Stage 16: Córdoba - Puertollano 170km

Matthias Ruß did the work along with riders from Liquigas and Columbia-HTC reeling in the solo rider Jesús Rosendo (Andalucía-Cajasur). A crash 3 km to go hampered Team Milram's ability to complete their support of Gerald Ciolek. Gerald ended up 4th, with André Greipel (Ger) Columbia-HTC taking another stage win.

Today it worked
I was in the right group and gave it all on the last climb!
The group for 3rd almost dropped but I digged soooooooo deep and got back just in time to launch my attack in the decent...well I just let it roelsing crazy (14%) but from the lap before I remembered all the turns....
Also wenn jemand auch mehr deutsch lesen will sagt mal bescheid.... aber ich denk my German homies get all my English slang...

Dom gets 3rd in 15th Stage of La Vuelta

Stage 15: Jaén - Córdoba 167.7km

Dom got into the winning 13 man break today with team mate Martin Velits. Dom was riding well within the break and was first to follow Columbia-HTC rider, Vicente Reynes (Spa) attack. Lars Boom (Ned) Rabobank and Serafín Martínez (Spa) Xacobeo Galicia joined the lead group. With about 23 km to go Martinez attacks, dropping the Columbia rider with Lars Boom and Dominik sticking. With 22.6 km to go Lars Boom picks up the pace on the San Jerónimo ascent and Dom was unable to match the pace, but kept going strong. At 22.2 km to go Martinez was no longer able to hang on to Lars Boom's wheel. Lars Boom continued his hard effort and quickly built 30 second gap. Dom and Martinez went back to the group. Somewhere in the next kilometers David Herrero (Spa) Xacobeo Galicia attacked (I was too excited about Dom and missed when this happened). Lars Boom continued to ride into the win while David Herrero got 2nd. Dom attacked somewhere, but it was not on video, built a gap again and got third. Team mate Martin Velits almost took the small group sprint but took 7th.

Great Day for Team Milram. A spectacular day for Dom.

Yea... I hope I will be in the right one.
Today and also the 2 following days I will give all I have to be in the right move, and show myself in the final. Well it is going to be hard because at least 100 guys are trying the same but... I want it more!!!
Jep the wheater now is I think a bit odd for that time in Spain (cloudy, some rain), usually its more like 40°C . Taht is good though.
Ok now I got to shave(so look good on the Podium;) and pack up my stuff.

Stage 14: Granada - La Pandera 157km

Christian Knees (Ger) Milram rides in 9 man break and finishes 12th. Damiano Cunego (Ita) Lampre-NGC takes a second stage win. Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Caisse d'Epargne struggles in the steep closing km's, but comes back as the climb becomes less steep.

Seven more days of racing and Dom will have completed his first grand tour. It will be exciting if Dom can get in some more breaks before this tour finishes in Madrid this coming Sunday.

Well, I'm two weeks into the Vuelta. Never raced that long so far. But as I imagined thats the style of racing I like. I really don't feel too exausted even aver the two hard mountain-stagens.
Well and in the next few stages I'm really motivated to attack and try to be in a group...
Therefore I need to recover properly.... So I'd better go to sleep now...

Ryder Hesjedal (Can) Garmin-Slipstream survived the break today to get the first Canadian win the La Vuelta (ever) over David Garcia (Spa) Xacobeo Galicia. The GC remains unchanged.

Stage 10: Alicante - Murcia 162km

Due to difficulties from injuries incurred during the large crash of stage 4, Thomas Rohregger withdrew from La Vuelta (Milram report).

Linus Gerdemann rode within the largest break of the tour so far (19 riders), and was having a great race, and it was looking likely for another win for Team Milram, until he punctured (read Milram's report here).

It was an exciting finish, to bad Linus was unable to give it a go.

Stage 9: Alcoy to Xorret de Cati

Today's stage contained two category three climbs, three cat two climbs, and finished with a category one climb. The final climb, Alto Xorret del Catí, was 5 km long starting with about an average gradient of 5-6% and rising to a punishing 19-20% grade, and then plummeting 3 km to the finish. Just riding up 19 to 20% climb with fresh legs is a killer, let alone after about 175 km of racing.

From the long breakaway, Gustavo César Veloso (Spa) Xacobeo Galicia survived the Alto Xorret del Catí and took the stage win and with Marco Marzano (Ita) Lampre-NGC taking second. From the chasing CG group Alejandro Valverde (Spa) Caisse d'Epargne took third with the time bonus and took GC lead from Cadel Evans (Aus) Silence-Lotto.

Damn Crashes

Well I don¨t have much time...
But I just want to tell U guys that I really took the TT yesterday easz going (didn^t warm up super good...) but it roled really well and so I tried to maintain my good speed till the finish... but than after I passed the secound rider there was that Sh*t fu**n corner which took me down...
and it cost me about 15-20sec. so I would have gotten 20th or better!!!
Well thats cycling...but at least I got back the white jersy!
So watch for the white today

Stage 7: Valencia

Dom placed 30th in the time trial today, and now leads the Combination Classification. Linus Gerdemann was the best placed Milram rider in 20th.

Stage 6: Xàtiva to Xàtiva

Dom remains in second place in Combination Classification behind Serafín Martínez (Spa) Xacobeo Galicia. Linus Gerdemann placed 11th today in an exciting finale. Thomas Rohregger hit the deck, while Gerald was not feeling to great after yesterday's crash.

Yesterday, Dom rode well placing 17th. Unfortunately Gerald Cioleck hit the deck again in the closing kilometers, on the fast, tight and twisty roads.

A good day with two crashes

It wasen't really planed... But after some 10-15 K of attacking I found myself in a 4 man group. And for sure it wasn't a bad move. Cause some 40K into the race it started raining. So it was much less stress riding in a break cause there were lots of turns and small roads.
Well but one of te riders from the break (Lagutin) slipped (cause he had no Conti tires) and took me down but not bad...And when i got cought on the last little climb 15 to go I managed to stay in the Pack and tried to help Björn Schröder for the Sprint... cause Gerry Ciolek had already crashed earlier...
Well and than I was (as Björn) in the Big chrash at 2,5 to go but bisides a usual hip-rash of about 2 by 2 inches I have nothing....
So I'll keep on ROELSing ;)))
And today relaxing... the bikes are still on the road but in 2 or 3 hours they will be here and we go for a little spin

Dom rides in break again!

I did not get to watch the race yet today. But after reading the reports, I can't wait to. Dom rode in the break again today and did not get caught till 15 km to go. Unfortunately there was a crash a little under 3 km to go, which affected many in the race, most notably Gerald Ciolek was unable to contest the field sprint. Fortunately Linus Gerdemann and Thomas Rohregger were able to move up in the general classification. Dominik now leader of the combination classification.

Tomorrow is a rest day, with the racing resuming in Tarragona on Thursday.
